I AM THE SUN

I am the Sun.
Hot, bewildered, stood back,
Just watching.
My life’s own center
In silence, in space.
All grumbles and fuss,
Watch out for my burning,
Stay distanced,
Call ‘cloud cover’,
Don’t look at my face.
I give all the warmth
To partake in affection
Then stifle
All progress
And keep orbits in place.
Then rare days,
With wide open skies
Let some hope in,
But too far away
- all ambition, no trace.
I am the sun,
A constant, a power,
With control
To pull closer,
All life for embrace.
But, how will they laugh
If I come forth to glow
On noting
This bright rock
Has nothing to show?!
I have sat in the sky,
Before now,
In silence, with space
And sought a self,
But even suspended
In freedom,
I battle againest
Each rolling whim.
Undisputed feelings
Burn within
With licking dagger flames
That scold denial,
But callouses long built
Don’t budge
Or soften in fear
Of abject loneliness.
